New AF system
Zone & Wide/Tracking modes for accurate capture of moving subjects
Zone mode allows to choose a 3×3, 5×3 or 5×5 zone from the 77-point AF area. When combined with the AF-C continuous focusing mode, the camera tracks a subject in the center of the selected zone. In the Wide/Tracking mode, the camera displays the area in focus, identified automatically out of the 77-point AF area, and tracks the subject across the entire 77-point AF area. This maintains focus on a subject that moves up / down, left / right or closer / further from the camera. The new AF system makes it easier than ever to capture moving subjects, dramatically increasing your shooting options.
Delivering a more accurate focusing performance
Single-point AF divides the focus area into smaller sections to more accurately determine the distance to the subject for even greater focusing accuracy. The built-in phase detection pixels have the detection range of 0.5EV, an improvement from the previous 2.5EV, delivering phase detection AF performance that enables fast focusing in low-light conditions and on low-contrast subjects.
Eye Detection AF – for more beautiful portraits
Activate Face Detection to automatically detect human faces and focus with Eye Detection AF to ensure accurate focus on human eyes, even when using a shallow depth-of-field. Combine these two functions to take your portrait photography to a new level.
Auto Macro – close-up photography has never been easier
The new AF system features an Auto Macro function that eliminates pressing the Macro button before shooting close-ups while maintaining the conventional AF speed. This update eliminates the Macro function assigned to the Macro Button, allowing you to assign a different function to the button.
Improved AF in the Movie mode for smoother video recording
The optimized algorithm delivers a more natural and smooth AF action during movie recording.
Operability Improvement
Improved Shutter Speed Dial operation
When the Shutter Speed Dial is set to T and the Shutter Type to Mechanical + Electronic, you can use the command dial to set a full range of exposure times from 30-1/32000sec. Previously, this was limited to 30-2 seconds. This means you can change the shutter speeds across a broader range without having to change camera position. This is particularly useful when shooting in the portrait orientation with the Vertical Battery Grip VG-XT1 attached.
Be more creative by using exposure compensation in the Manual exposure mode
You can use the Exposure Compensation dial to make exposure adjustments while shooting in the Manual exposure mode with the ISO Auto setting.
Finer lines on the framing grid enhances visibility
The lines on the framing grid, which you can choose to display in the Screen Set-Up menu, have been made finer making it easier to view the subject.
Name of Silent mode changed to avoid confusion
The Silent Mode has been renamed to Speaker + Flash OFF.
Firmware Ver.3.00 Enhancement for X-T1
High-speed 1/32000sec electronic shutter
When using lenses with very wide apertures, like the Fujinon XF35mmF1.4 R and the XF56mmF1.2 R, it’s possible to achieve a very shallow depth-of-field and beautiful bokeh along with a sharp subject. However, when using these wide apertures in very bright light, like on a sunny day, shutter speed can limit shooting options and mean the widest aperture settings are unavailable. To fix this, the FUJIFILM X-T1 / X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition now includes an electronic shutter mode with a top speed of 1/32000 sec, meaning you can use wide apertures more easily than ever before.
* This functionality has been installed on the FUJIFILM X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition.
Completely silent shutter
The optical viewfinder in a DSLR requires a mirror box that makes noise as it moves up and down during an exposure, but the FUJIFILM X-T1 has a special design with no such mechanism, so shooting is quieter. To complement this, even the sound of the shutter opening and closing can now be removed thanks to the new electronic shutter mode. No noise at the beginning or end of the exposure makes the camera incredibly useful for subjects like nature, weddings, or live events when users need to remain quiet.
* This functionality has been installed on the FUJIFILM X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition.
A new choice, Classic Chrome
A sixth choice has been added to Film Simulation, which gives a unique luster and depth to photos; Classic Chrome. Classic Chrome was inspired by feedback and requests from X Series photographers and its look is inspired by printed images in magazines from the glory days of photo journalism, rather than a specific film type.
With slightly muted tones and deep color reproduction, it’s a clear departure from the existing five types.
Rather than a pure record of the scene, Classic Chrome offers photographers a more expressive, and artistic look to their shots.
* This functionality has been installed on the FUJIFILM X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition.
High performance viewfinder which outperforms DSLR versions
Adaptable Live View Mode is ready for anything.
Natural Live View mode
One of the great benefits of an electronic viewfinder is that what you see is what you get’; the final image is displayed in real-time so any Film Simulation modes or other effects can be checked while shooting. But users sometimes need to see colors close to how they’re viewed with an optical finder, or to focus on shadow detail, which some high-contrast effects block out. To aid this, the Natural Live View function has been added and, when “PREVIEW PIC. EFFECT” is turned Off in the menu, an image close to the naked eye is displayed during live view.
* This functionality has been installed on the FUJIFILM X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition.
11 adaptable vividness levels guarantee the perfect view
Whether it’s through a viewfinder, on an LCD screen, or with the naked eye, we all see color differently, so to ensure that users get the perfect view, vividness of the image displayed can now be adjusted through 11 levels, from -5 to +5. This function can be controlled separately for the electronic viewfinder and the LCD monitor, so it remains totally effective no matter what the lighting conditions or shooting style.
* This functionality has been installed on the FUJIFILM X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition.
AF+MF
“AF+MF” function enables seamless manual focusing. After half pressing the shutter to autofocus on the subject, fine adjustment can then be made using the manual focus ring.

Advanced Features 2
Maximizing the power of APS-C-sized X-Trans CMOS II sensor
Capture each strand of hair in crisp detail.
Due to the X-Trans CMOS II sensor architecture that eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) and integrates FUJFILM’s originally developed color filter array, the FUJIFILM X-T1 reproduces scenes with resolution and clarity rivaling a larger sensor.
- 1:Microlenses
- 2:X-Trans Color Filter
- 3:L/R Light Interception Filter
- 4:Phase Detection Sensor / Green Filter Pixel
- 5:Photodiode
X-Trans CMOS II sensor incorporates an original color filter array with a highly random pattern, eliminating the need for an optical low-pass filter (OLPF). These filters are used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The X-Trans CMOS II sensor array lets the sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens, achieving an unprecedented level of resolution.
Lens Modulation Optimizer technology brings out the full potential of the XF lens.
The advanced Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) technology in the FUJIFILM X-T1 was made possible by the integrated development of the lens, sensor and processor. For each mounted lens, LMO high-precision processing of the lens focal length and aperture, as well as data from the screen center to the edges, corrects diffraction blur when shooting with a stopped down aperture and compensates for the slight blurring in the lens periphery. The result is edge-to-edge image quality with incredible sharpness and a sense of dimensional reality.
Intelligent Hybrid Auto Focus
World’s fastest AF speed of 0.08 sec.* achieved via the integration of phase detection pixels into the advanced sensor.
High-speed responses from the on-sensor phase detection AF system. Accurate focusing in dark scenes that only contrast AF can deliver. The FUJIFILM X-T1 has both, plus Intelligent Hybrid AF for automatic switching to the optimal focusing system for the scene and conditions. A newly developed algorithm improves AF accuracy when shooting low-contrast subjects and dark scenes. The evolved AF system of the FUJIFILM X-T1 brings your subject into sharp focus so quickly that priceless moments will never escape your lens.
A remarkable leap in high sensitivity — maximum ISO of 51,200
To broaden photographic opportunities in low-light scenes, you’ll find an expanded sensitivity range, which now extends to an impressive ISO 51200. To combat noise at these ultra-high sensitivity settings, the arrangement of components and circuits around the sensor has been redesigned, keeping blacks black, with minimal grain and no color casts.
EXR Processor II — Double the processing speed of the previous generation.
Faster together — the X-Trans CMOS II sensor and EXR Processor II.
The adoption of the dual CPU and improved computational performance has doubled the processing speed when compared with the previous generation processor**, the start-up time has also improved to only approx. 0.5 sec.*** Working in tandem with the high-speed signal readout of the X-Trans CMOS II sensor, the processor reduces the shooting interval to 0.5 sec.*4 and shutter time lag to 0.05 sec.
Capture the thrill of motion with predictive AF and AF tracking high-speed 8.0 fps continuous shooting.
Faster response means more confidence in capturing the moment, and the FUJIFILM X-T1 delivers it. Using phase-detection autofocus, combined with high-speed subject predictive, the AF accurately follows your subject through the frame, even at the highest continuous shooting speed of 8.0 frames/sec.
The World’s first compatibility with UHS-II format SD memory cards
With an UHS-II SD memory card installed, the data writing speed in continuous mode increases to about twice that of a conventional card.
Time-lapse photography – Interval timer function
Set the starting time, the shooting interval (1 sec. to 24 hr.) and finally the number of frames (1 – 999), and the FUJIFILM X-T1 does the rest, allowing you to discover the unique world of time-lapse photography.
80 years of photo film research adds up to color reproduction that’s second to none.
Over decades of film manufacture Fujifilm has perfected the skill of color reproduction and it lives on in the FUJIFILM X-T1. Image quality control with color, tone & sharpness adjustment
Fine-tune image quality with “COLOR“ for color saturation adjustment, “HIGHLIGHT TONE“ and “SHADOW TONE“ for tweaking contrast in highlights and shadows, and “SHARPNESS“ to stress or soften image outlines. With this built-in detailed image quality control, you can produce an image that precisely matches your vision.
2 Color Space Types
Depending on how you intend to output and use the image, just select either sRGB for a standard range of color reproduction on general displays or Adobe RGB® for its broader color rendition.
Noise Reduction Control
Fine-tune image quality when shooting at higher ISO settings and enjoy optimum results. Choose from five different levels of noise reduction, depending on whether your priority is smooth, grain-free images or keeping noise reduction to a minimum.
High Performance LCD Monitor
Large 3.0-inch 1.04 million-dot LCD monitor with a tilting screen
Shooting information and the image are displayed with vivid clarity, and even dark scenes are easy to view. The use of reinforced glass makes the screen tougher and more scratch-resistant.
Shooting Data Display
This mode displays numerical values and icons in a large easy-to-view size for an at-a-glance grasp of camera settings. Comfortable stress-free confirmation of shooting data leaves you free to concentrate on framing your shot in the viewfinder.
Face Detection function
Take portraits and group photos with confidence. With Face Detection activated, faces in the scenes are instantly detected, and the focus, exposure and white balance are automatically optimized.
Flash Photography
The FUJIFILM X-T1 comes with a hot-shoe mounted accessory flashgun and features Fujifilm’s original Super Intelligent Flash system — the high-precision TTL flash control technology that automatically supplies just the right amount of flash according to the lighting conditions of your chosen scene. It’s ideal for shooting small items, special occasions indoors or other low-light subjects. When even more light is required or you are shooting with the lens hood attached, you can use a separately sold TTL flash.
Advanced Filters let you capture the moment in a unique work of art.
Select from the eight different Advanced Filters, and with just one press of the shutter, you can create a photo with true artistic flair. Once a filter is selected, you can preview the effect on the LCD screen and adjust the aperture value, shutter speed and exposure compensation for optimum brightness.
Miniature
Adds top and bottom blur for a diorama or miniature effect.
Dynamic Tone
Creates a fantasy effect by altering the tonal reproduction of the scene.
High Key
Enhances brightness and reduces contrast to lighten tonal reproduction.
Low Key
Creates uniformly dark tones with emphasized highlights.
Partial Color (Red / Orange / Yellow / Green / Blue / Purple)
Retains one selected original color and changes the rest of the photo to black and white.
Soft Focus
Creates a look that is evenly soft throughout the whole image.
Pop Color
Emphasizes contrast and color saturation.
Toy Camera
Creates shaded borders as if you were taking a photo on a toy camera.
Motion Panorama
Capture Panorama Shots and Show Them in Stunning Large-size Prints
The photographed angle of view will vary depending on the mounted lens.
Just sweep the camera across the scene, and the FUJIFILM X-T1 captures multiple images and seamlessly stitches them together to form a single panorama photo. Even when enlarged to an A3-size print, there is virtually no loss of resolution. Holding the camera horizontally or vertically, Motion Panorama lets you shoot the scene with an “M” or “L” angle of view.
Superimpose one image on another for creative effects with Multiple Exposure
While viewing your first shot on the LCD screen, you can frame and shoot the second exposure. As you precisely position and focus the second shot and make adjustments to composition such as the size of your subject, you can “see” how the finished image will look. Multiple Exposure is yet another exciting way to explore new dimensions in photographic expression with FUJIFILM X-T1.
Capture every detail with the clarity of Full HD Movie mode
Full HD Movie (1920×1080) mode offers not only the standard 30 fps but also 60 fps. You can also take advantage of Monochrome and the classic color effects of other Film Simulation modes, putting your own signature on every clip you shoot. Twin the exceptional brightness of an X mount lens and the FUJIFILM X-T1’s large sensor and you’ll be shooting movies with professional-looking, shallow depth-of-field effects. Connect the external MIC-ST1 stereo microphone (sold separately) to record high-quality audio and add depth to your movies, too.
FULL HD MOVIE x FILM SIMULATION
PROVIA
True-to-life natural tonality and color reproduction.
Velvia
Shoot HD Movies in the vibrant colors of Velvia.
MONOCHROME
Capture the action in richly expressive monochrome tones.
MIC LEVEL ADJUSTMENT
Adjust the microphone volume level between four sensitivity settings while monitoring the level meter on screen for optimum audio recording and the prevention of loss or distortion.
White Balance Setting
Kelvin temperature setting is available for detailed correction to match the color temperature of the shooting location. And you can fine tune white balance to capture perfectly natural skin tones or for creative effects.
