5-axis Sync IS: the world’s most powerful image stabilisation
This is the first Olympus interchangeable lens to be equipped with in-lens IS (image stabilisation). Combining in-lens IS and in-body 5-axis IS, 5-axis Sync IS achieves the world’s most powerfulimage stabilisation, equivalent to 6 shutter speed steps. This makes previously difficult hand-held super-telephoto shooting possible.

Olympus’s best-ever resolution is achieved by including 3 Super ED (extra-low dispersion) lenses, an HR (high-refractive) lens and an E-HR (Extra-High Refractive) lens for correcting colour bleeding and aberrations that tend to occur when using telephoto lenses.

New coating technology, Z Coating Nano, significantly reduces ghosts and flares for sharp, clear image quality. By adding a layer of nano-sized particles with a layer of air in the center to the surface of the lens, the coating achieves a refractive index similar to that of air for reduced surface reflections.
High-speed, high-precision autofocus
High-precision, thin lens fabrication technology makes the focus lens element lightweight. This contributes to the high-speed, high-precision lens drive and the overall small package. When combined with the OM-D E-M1, high-speed AF of 400 ms or less is possible.

Telemacro shooting with a maximum image magnification of 0.48x
Telemacro performance with a closest focusing distance of 1.4 m (1.15 m from the end of the lens) and a maximum image magnification of 0.48x is now possible. These features open up a new world of telemacro shooting with hand-held and free angle possibilities.

Premium, fine quality expected of the PRO lens series
The sophisticated design features a MF (manual focus) clutch mechanism for instantly switching shooting styles, and switches on the lens barrel for changing settings without changing your grip.
1: MF clutch mechanism: pull the focusing ring toward you to switch to a preset focal position. This makes it possible to instantly switch from AF shooting to prefocus shooting.
2: Lens barrel switch: a focus limit switch (all range, near/far distance), IS switch (ON/OFF), and L-Fn (for registering all functions) button are located on the side of the lens barrel. These controls make it possible to change settings with a single action.
A new world made possible with the super-telephoto lens and silent shutter
Combining the silent shooting mode with this super-telephoto lens let you shoot silently in environments where it is difficult to approach the subject, such as concerts, etc.

MC-14 M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x Teleconverter
The MC-14 can extend the focal distance of the lens attached to 1.4x. This converter has 6 lens elements (including 1 HR lens) in 3 groups, packaged in a compact metal body. Image degradation is kept to an absolute minimum, and it also provides dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof performance. The MC-14 is compatible with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm F4 IS PRO.

PRF-ZD77 PRO Protect Filter
This is a protection filter for the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO. To reduce flares and ghosts due to reflections, Zero Coating is used in addition to black-edged glass, and a satin finish on the black alunite/aluminum frame removes glossiness to prevent unwanted reflections.
EE-1 Dot Sight
This is an externally-mounted dot sight suitable for super-telephoto shooting. The EE-1 is splashproof, and has a sliding lever to pop the unit open. Because it is powered by a coin-shaped battery, it can be used if you have a accessory shoe. The reticle position and brightness can be adjusted for easier framing when shooting far-away subjects.
LC-77B Lens Cap (included)
Lens cap for lenses with a filter diameter of 77mm.
LSC-1127 Lens Case (included)
A three-layer construction purse-string type lens case (included in the box) securely protects the lens. The lens can be stored in this case with the lens cap, protection filter, tripod collar, and teleconverter attached to the lens.
DR-79 Decoration Ring (included)
This decoration ring covers the screws that get exposed when the tripod collar is removed. Not only does it maintain the texture of the body when the collar is removed, but provides a better grip for hand-held shooting.

Depth of field
When focusing on a subject, there is an area behind and in front of the focused point that is also in focus. This area is called depth of field. The amount of area behind a focused point will always be greater than the area in front of the focused point regardless of aperture. Depth of field becomes deeper when the focal length is short (wide-angle lens), the focusing distance is long, and aperture is small.
