The E-M1X viewfinder has a high 0.83x magnification (35mm equivalent) with a clear edge to edge display of the image with no distortion. Functioning at a maximum frame rate of 120fps the high-speed progressive scan electronic viewfinder minimises display time lag down to 0.005 seconds for smooth display of fast-moving subjects. The two high-performance TruePic VIII image processors replicate dark tones smoother on the display. The viewfinder layout can be customized to suit your preference and when a magnification of 0.74x (35mm equivalent) has been selected it is optimised so that shooting information does not overlap with the subject; ensuring your focus remains on shooting moving subjects.
Enhanced dust, splash and freeze-proof construction
Weather sealing of the E-M1X exceeds the conventional weatherproof standard of IPX1 to provide peace of mind and reliability in punishing environments. This construction allows you to shoot without being affected by weather and without a rain cover. The dust, splash and freeze-proof sealing is maintained even when cables are connected to the remote cable, microphone, and headphone terminals. The rubber sealing used on Olympus Tough cameras is used to seal each of the camera covers including the SD card slot.
*The guaranteed operating environment (according to Olympus testing methods) is IPX1.
*RM-CB2 Remote Cable does not have a splash & dust proof construction.
Dust Reduction System
Olympus pioneered the Dust Reduction System and has a long track record of reliability. The Supersonic Wave Filter(SSWF) vibrates at a speed of more than 30,000 times per second to instantly remove dirt and dust. The E-M1X has a new coating on the sensor to reduce the possibility of dust in photos to a 10th of previous models, allowing for lenses to be swapped even in duty environments.
1. Heat pipe

Normal shooting and Tripod High Res Shot
Tripod High Res Shot
The image sensor in the E-M1X is moved in 0.5 pixel increments to capture 8 images, which are then merged to form a single 50MP equivalent high-resolution photo. This feature is good for suppressing movement in the merged shot such as a rippling surface of water or leaves shaking in the wind.
*Resolution will be lower under inconsistent light sources due to flicker effects.
*If the subject moves during shooting, the resolution of the moving section will be lower than the rest of the image.
*The aperture can be set from the widest setting to F8 and the ISO sensitivity can be set up to 1600.
*For flash photography, set the sync speed to 1/50 sec or longer.
*RAW shots are 80MP equivalent.

Handheld High Res Shot
High Res Shot capabilities have been advanced to allow the camera to achieve handheld high res shots. When activated, precise minor sensor shifts are used to capture 16 images which are then merged to create a high-resolution photo equivalent to 50MP. Perfect for capturing shots in locations where a tripod cannot be used or when moving around a lot during shooting.
*Resolution will be lower under inconsistent light sources due to flicker effects.
*If the subject moves during shooting, the resolution of the moving section will be lower than the rest of the image.
*The aperture can be set from the widest setting to F8 and the ISO sensitivity can be set up to 6400.
*The flash is not available.
*RAW shots are 50MP equivalent.
*Processing takes longer than with High Res Shot using tripod.
Live ND
This new feature virtually extends the exposure time and allows the capture of images with slow shutter speed effect by merging multiple exposures together. Five levels of the LIVE ND effect can be selected from ND2 (1 step) and ND32 (5 steps) and the effect of the slow shutter speed can be seen LIVE in the viewfinder or LCD screen before capturing[1]. This feature not only removes the trouble of changing filters according to the shooting scene or lens, but is also useful for lenses that are difficult to attach filters to.
*1: When LV simulation is on.
*The expected effect may not be obtained depending on the subject and scene.
*If the ND step setting increases when the flash is off, the maximum ISO sensitivity setting is 800, and the maximum shutter speed is 1/30 (set to ND2), the speed drops.

Live Composite, Live Bulb, and Live Time
The E-M1X includes a new ‘B’ for Blub on the mode dial and three long exposure modes; Live Composite, Live Blub and Live Time, allowing photographers flexibility with long exposure captures. Live Composite mode captures a base image and then only adds sections that become brighter in the scene in Live View. Live Bulb, allows photographers to see in Live View how the image is developing whilst keeping the shutter open for however long the shutter release button is pressed. Live Time, opens the shutter with the first press of the shutter release button and closes it with the second press whilst showing the photographer how the image is developing in Live.
1. The cut area guide is displayed when shooting
Focus Stacking mode
Focus Stacking mode records an image that is in focus from foreground to background by combining multiple images together. In the E-M1 Mark II this function was locked to 8 shots, with the E-M1X you can select from 3 to 15 shots to use for compositing. The greater the number of shots selected the larger the depth of field created. This features functionality has also been improved by including guide lines to show where the images will be cut after they are recorded.
Focus Bracketing
With Focus Bracketing up to 999 images can be recorded. These can then be used with commercial software to create a photo with even greater depth of field and in-focus area than can be obtained with Focus Stacking.
